Executive Committee

Supporting in other ways!!

The Executive Committee plays a very important part in the running of the Scout Group, in fact, the Scout Group could not function without it. We have several responsibilities on the Exec Committee. These include:

– Organising social events

– Maintaining the Scout HQ

– Providing Equipment for the Scout Group

– Ensuring that the Scout Group is suitably insured

– Fundraising for the Group

– Administrating the Scout Group’s finances

– Assisting in the recruitment of leaders

Because we are a registered charity, some members of the Executive Committee are Trustees of the charity – don’t worry about the title, it’s just a formality.

Who are we?

Although the ‘Executive’ bit in our title makes us sound very formal and important, it is actually not like that at all! We are just normal parents of children and supporters from within the Scout Group.

Some of us are ‘ex-officio’ members and have proper titles. These are the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. We also have members who have specific roles for example Quartermaster and Marketing/Publicity.

Ideally there should be a parent from each section in the Group on the Executive Committee. This means that we have a good spread of opinion and a reasonable base of volunteers who we can call upon from time to time. We very much believe that many hands make light work and that no one person should ever have to do too much!

To find out more about who we are and whats involved in each role take a look at the role descriptions below.

 Chairman

 Treasurer

 Secretary

– Committee Member

Where and when do we meet?

We meet once, every 6 weeks, usually at 7.30pm to ensure we can all get there after work. The meetings are very informal. We enjoy a chat about all things Scouting. We generally try to draw things to a close by about 9pm at the very latest.

Can I Help?

Of course you can! The Exec Committee is open to anyone who has an interest in helping the group to function. If you would like to help out but don’t have the time to be a Leader/Helper then the Exec is a great way of supporting the group with minimal time commitment.

What is the commitment?

We only ask that you attend the Exec Meetings as often as you are able to. You won’t be signing your life away or anything like that!

Sounds great! How do I join?

Joining our team is simple, and easy. Just send us an email with your details to info@1stcombs.suffolkscouts.org.uk  We’ll be in touch very soon. We can’t wait to meet you!
